For the past few weeks, I’ve really struggled to put into words for you all what God has been doing in my heart. I don’t even know where to begin… and now I’m behind haha. I will do my best to give you some good tidbits…
Ideas matter.
Truth exists.
Truth is knowable.
Jesus Christ is that truth.
A couple weeks ago we had John Gillespie speak on the Bible. One of the first things he said to us was a challenge to be thinkers. I really appreciated this encouragement, because I can so easily beat myself up for asking questions and over analyzing things. But God doesn’t want us to blindly follow him. He wants us to know him. And he offers us himself.
Sometimes my questions and over analyzing can be frustrating, because the more I know, the more I realize how little I know. But no matter how many questions I have, the one truth I keep being reminded of us is this:
I need Jesus. I need more of him than I did yesterday. And I’ll need more tomorrow. And he’s more than happy to give himself to me.
And when I start stressing and worrying about what’s next, I rest in who he is and who he says I am. It doesn’t really matter what I end up doing. He is the life I want to live. It’s all about Jesus. It’s really just all about Jesus, friends.
I think Mother Theresa said it well:
“The work we do is nothing more than a means of transforming our love for Christ into something concrete. I didn't have to find Jesus. Jesus found me and chose me. A strong vocation is based on being possessed by Christ. He is the Life that I want to live. He is the Light that I want to radiate. He is the Love with which I want to love. He is the Joy that I want to share. He is the Peace that I want to sow. Jesus is everything to me. Without Him, I can do nothing.”
It’s simple really. And these simple truths are transforming my heart. And the result of a transformed heart will hopefully be a transformed life.
*And on another note, Thanksgiving was wonderful! There was a campus wide worship time and Loren and Darlene Cunningham (the founders of YWAM) spoke. We then had a prayer march through the YWAM property for the Lord to bless the work that will be done in the future. Thanksgiving lunch included turkey, mashed potatoes and all. It was so fun being with my Comm Trans family, getting dressed up and eating good food together. Then I went over to my friend, Micaela's family condo for the day. We baked cookies, sat by the pool and bbq'd hamburgers, watched the sunset at the beach, and went black Friday shopping! So fun :) Click on the photos below to get a bigger view (sorry I couldn't figure out how to flip a couple of them!)
