This past week was SO good! There were just so many things that the Lord spoke to me that I'm sad I can't share them all with you. Kaci Bullis spoke to us about our identity and original design. I am a thinker. A deep thinker. And I like it that way :) That's probably why I like coffee shops so much - they encourage an environment of reflection and thought. And because God created me this way, I'm always trying to dig deeper and deeper in my relationship with Jesus. I've spent the last couple weeks asking the Lord who he made me to be. But what God's continually reminding me is that my identity is so much simpler than I make it in my mind.
I am a beloved daughter of the most high God. I am his.
That fact alone bring me so much joy. There is freedom in the knowledge and ownership of your true identity! We so often define ourselves by what we do rather than who we are. But what we do should come out of who we are. The gifts God's given us should not hold us captive. Our identity should rather release us to do what God called us to do.
God used so many people to speak truth and encouragement into my life this week. There's something so liberating in having your gifts affirmed for the purpose of the kingdom. It showed me the importance of taking ownership of my gifts so that God can fully use them for his glory. And it reminded me of the vitality of speaking truth and encouragement to those around me, to draw out the gifts he's put in them.
There was so much goodness in our talks this week that I'm going to give you some little gold nuggets from my notes. Hopefully they'll make sense on their own, because I won't be able to go into great detail about them. But my hope is that reading through them, one will stick out to you and marinate in your heart for a while...
"Stop living to be liked and start living as someone who is outrageously loved."
"It is more important to be obedient than to be impressive."
"We aren't called to do it all. We are called to do our part."
"Don't take vision as discouragement for where you're at right now. Know your season and love it."
"When you live a life of obedience you will stop doubting where you are."
"Don't let the titles people give you or withhold from you define you."
"Don't lost your desire to live and live to the fullest."
"Being obedient means God gives us what we need rather than what we want."
"If you have a glass of grape juice that's filled to the brim and it gets bumped, what falls out? Grape juice. When you get bumped, whatever you are filled with will spill out."
"Serving Jesus means you should be living in the middle of uncomfortable and yikes!"
"Be available - let your ego down and love people more than you love yourself."
"The only thing that replaces the spirit of heaviness is the garment of praise."
"Speak words of life over people. Unlock things in them that God has already put in them. You have the power of God. Use words of praise to bring out what God created them to be."
